Instructions
1 Boil rice
Rinse the rice.
Add the rice, a pinch of salt and the measuredwater to a pot with a lid.
Bring to a boil over a high heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cover.
Cook for 10-12 min or until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.
Once cooked, stir the edamame through the rice.
Remove from the heat.
Keep covered until serving.
Tip!If cooking for kids, set aside a portion of the edamame and plain cooked rice before stirring through the remaining edamame.
2 Prep
Meanwhile, deseed and finely slice the peppers.
Peel and finely slice the redonion.
In a small bowl, combine the honey, ricevinegar, soysauce, sambaloelek(spicy!), a pinch of chilliflakes(spicy!) and 2 tsp of cornstarch.
Tip!If cooking for kids, leave out the sambal oelek and chilli flakes.
3 Fry steak
Heat a large non-stick pan over a high heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the steakstrips.
Fry for 2-3 min until browned.
Transfer the steak strips to a plate.
Reserve the pan.
Tip!If the pan is looking crowded, fry the beef strips in batches. This will stop them from stewing, rather than frying.
4 Fry veg
Return the reserved pan to a medium-high heat with another drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the onion, peppers and gingergarlicpaste with a pinch of salt.
Fry for 4-5 min until softened.
Tip!If cooking for kids, fry a plain portion of peppers first and set aside, before frying the remaining.
5 Finish
Add the steakstrips and stir-frysauce to the pan.
Fry for 1 min further until thickened.
Remove from the heat.
Add the sesame oil.
6 Serve
Serve the Chilli Beef Stir-fry over the EdamameJasmine Rice.
Tip!If cooking for kids, serve the cooked steak strips, cooked rice, edamame and peppers separately.
