Before you start
Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.
Instructions
1 Marinate
In a bowl, mix together the steakstrips, bakingsoda, cornstarch, a good pinch of salt and pepper, and a drizzle of vegetableoil.
Set aside to quickly marinate.
Tip!Baking soda is the secret to tender beef as it helps break down tough protein fibres, while allowing the flavours to marinate. A little goes a long way.
2 Make sauce
In another small bowl, combine the soysauce, brownsugar, sesameoil, gingergarlicpaste, oystersauce, sesameseeds, measured water, and half the springonions, reserving the rest for the rice.
3 Fry
Heat a large pan over high heat with a small drizzle of oil.
Fry the marinated steakstrips for 3-4 min on high heat until browned and caramelised.
Transfer the steak strips to a plate.
Add a small drizzle of oil.
Fry the broccoli and peppers for 2-3 min until charred and softened.
Tip!To speed things up, add a small splash of water and cover the vegetables to help steam cook.
4 Fry rice
Meanwhile, Heat another large frying pot or pan over a medium-high heat.
Using your hands squeeze the rice in the packet, to separate the ricegrains.
Add a drizzle of oil to the pan.
Fry the springonions with a pinch of salt and pepper for 1 min.
Add the rice and stir-fry for 2-3 min until warmed through.
5 Add sauce
Add the steakstrips back to the pan, and pour over the sauce.
Cook for 2-3 min until the sauce thickens to your liking.
6 Serve
Serve the Chinese Steak Strips and Broccoli in Oyster Sauce over the Rice.
