Before you start
Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.
Instructions
1 Prep
Peel and finely chop the red onion.
Peel and mince the garlic.
Drain and rinse the whitebeans in a colander.
Finely chop the dill.
Slice the halloumi into 1cm bite-sized pieces.
2 Fry halloumi
Heat a large pan over a medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the halloumipieces.
Fry for 2-3 min on each side until browned.
Transfer to a plate.
Reserve the pan.
3 Fry onions
Return the pan to a medium-high heat with another drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the onions with a pinch of salt.
Cook for 5-6 min or until softened.
Add the garlic.
Cook for 30 sec further.
4 Make sauce
Add the peeledplumtomatoes and break them apart with a spatula.
Add the tomatopaste, honey, a pinch of chilliflakes(spicy!) and the drained white beans.
Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
Simmer for 5 min or until thickened.
Tip!Sensitive to spice? Go easy on the chilli flakes.
5 Add halloumi
Once thickened, add the halloumi to the pan.
Cook for 2 min further.
6 Serve
Serve the Greek Halloumi and White Bean Saganaki.
Crumble the feta cheese over the top.
Sprinkle with the dill and a pinch of the remaining chilliflakes(spicy!).
