Before you start
Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.
Instructions
1 Prep
Peel and finely chop the onion.
Deseed and chop the pepper into small bite-sized pieces.
Drain and slice the halloumi into 1cm slices.
2 Fry
Heat a large non-stick frying pan or skillet over a medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the onion, pepper with a pinch of salt.
Fry for 3-5 min.
Add the cuminseeds, smokedpaprika and raselhanout(spicy!).
Fry for 30 secs until fragrant.
Tip!Sensitive to spice? Go easy on the ras el hanout.
3 Make sauce
Add the tomatopaste, peeledplumtomatoes (breaking them up), measuredwater, stockcube, garlicpowder and sugar with a pinch of pepper.
Mix well.
Bring to a boil and lower the heat.
Simmer for 3-4 min until the sauce has slightly reduced.
4 Cook eggs
Make 3 spaces in the sauce.
Crack an egg into each space.
Cover and leave to cook for 6-8 min or until the eggs are fully cooked.
Tip!Add 2 minutes more of cooking time if you like your eggs well done.
5 Fry halloumi
Heat a separate pan over a medium-high heat with another drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the halloumi.
Fry for 2-3 min each side or until golden.
6 Serve
Microwave the pittabread for 30 sec.
Nestle the fried halloumi into the shakshuka.
Pick over the mintleaves and drizzle over the honey.
Serve the Halloumi Shakshuka with Honey with Pitta Bread.
Tip!For crispier pitta bread heat them in the oven or under the grill for 1-2 min each side.
