Instructions
1 Toast pecans
In a dry pan over mediium heat, toast the pecans for 1-2 min.
Roughly chop into smaller pieces.
Wipe the pan clean and set it aside.
2 Prep apples
Peel the apples and slice in quarters, removing the core and seeds.
Chop into smaller bite-sized pieces.
3 Cook apples
Heat the reserved pan over medium high heat.
Add the butter, apples, cinnamon, and maplesyrup.
Cook for 5-7 min until the apples are softened.
In a small bowl, mix 1 tsp of cornstarch with 100ml measured water to create a slurry.
When apples are softened, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 min until thickened and syrupy.
Set aside and keep warm.
4 Cook porridge
Meanwhile, in another small pot, combine the oats, milk, vanillaessence, 450ml measured water, and raisins (see tip).
Bring to a boil, then gently simmer and cook the oatmeal porridge for 5-7 min until thickened to your liking.
Tip!The raisins will naturally sweeten the oatmeal. If you're not a fan, or if cooking for kids, leave them out. You can either stir in a small pinch of sugar or honey instead.
5 Serve
Serve the Hot Oatmeal Porridge with MapleCinnamonApples and a sprinkling of Pecans
Tip!Enjoy this also chilled in the fridge the next day!
