Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.

Instructions

Cook rice

1 Cook rice

  • Rinse and drain the rice.
  • Add the rice, a pinch of salt and the measured water to a pot with a lid and bring to a boil over a high heat.
  • Lower heat, cover and cook for 12-14 min, until rice is tender.
  • Remove from the heat and keep covered until serving.
Prep

2 Prep

  • Clean the mushrooms with a cloth, knife or brush (don't wash them with water), then slice into quarters.
  • Deseed and chop the red pepper.
  • Peel and finely chop the brown onion and garlic.
  • Chop the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
Fry

3 Fry

  • Heat a large pot over medium-high heat.
  • Add the butter and onion and fry for 2-3 min until softened.
  • Add the chicken with a pinch of salt, pepper, and thyme (to taste) and fry for 4-5 min.
  • Add the garlic, mushroom, and red pepper and fry for 3-4 min further.

  • Once the vegetables soften, add the flour, and 0.5 chicken stock cube.
  • Cook, stirring continuously for 1 min or until a paste has formed.
Finish stew

  • Stir in the water, whipping cream, Worcestershire sauce, and peas.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium, cover with a lid and cook for 4-5 min until the stew thickens.
Serve

6 Serve

  • Meanwhile, pick and finely chop the parsley, and stir into the finished sauce.
  • Serve the Chicken a la King on a bed or warm rice.
