Before you start
Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.
Instructions
1 Prep
Slice the halloumi into bite-sized strips.
Slice the lemon into wedges.
Add a drizzle of olive oil into a large bowl with a pinch of allspice and chillipowder(spicy!).
Add the cinnamonpowder, garliconionpowder, coriandercuminpowder, smokedpaprika and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Mix until combined and add the halloumi.
Set aside.
Tip!Sensitive to spice? Go easy on the chilli powder.
2 Fry onion
Peel and finely slice the onion.
Heat a large non-stick pan over a medium-high heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the onions with a pinch of salt and fry for 5 min stirring frequently.
Add the sumacpowder and fry for 1 min further.
Transfer the onions to a plate and reserve the pan.
3 Make cauli rice
Meanwhile, using a box grater or food processor, grate or blitz the cauliflower until it resembles rice grains.
Heat a second pan over a medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the cauliflower with a pinch of salt and stir-fry for 5 min.
4 Fry halloumi
Meanwhile, return the reserved pan over a medium heat with a drizzle of oil.
Once hot, add the halloumi and fry for 3-5 min or until golden.
5 Prep
Meanwhile, halve the cherrytomatoes.
Slice the cucumbers into half moons.
Peel and mince the garlic.
In a small bowl, mix together the garlic, a squeeze of lemon and yogurt with a pinch of salt.
6 Serve
Serve the Shawarma Spiced Halloumi with Cauliflower Rice and GarlicYogurt Sauce.
Serve with the garlicyogurt on the side.
