Please wash your hands and rinse all fresh fruits and vegetables prior to cooking.

Instructions

Prep

1 Prep

  • Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic.
  • Peel and grate the carrot.
  • Break the lasagna sheets into smaller pieces.
Tip! It's easier to break the lasagna sheets lengthways - split into long or smaller pieces to your liking!
Fry vegetables

2 Fry vegetables

  • Heat a large pan, or pot, with a lid over a medium-high heat with a drizzle of olive oil.
  • Once hot, add the onions, carrot and garlic with a pinch of salt.
  • Fry for 4-5 min until softened and beginning to caramelise.
Fry beef

3 Fry beef

  • Add the beef mince and cook for 4-5 min further, breaking it up with a rubber spatula.
  • Add the tomato paste, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and 0.5 beef stock cube .
  • Cook for 1-2 min further.
Simmer

4 Simmer

  • Add the sugar, peeled plum tomatoes (breaking them up with a wooden spoon), dried thyme, oregano and measured water.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 5-10 min.
Tip! Stew the sauce for as long as possible (even up to an hour) for extra flavour.
Add pasta

5 Add pasta

  • Add the broken lasagna and stir gently to submerge. If needed, add splashes of water.
  • Bring to a boil and while stirring.
  • Lower the heat, cover with a lid and simmer for 10-15 min until 'al dente' or cooked to your liking.
  • Adjust the seasoning to taste.
Tip! Make sure to keep distance between the lasagna pieces so they don't stick. Stir the pasta a few times to ensure even cooking.
Serve

6 Serve

  • Pick the basil leaves.
  • Top the bolognese with fresh basil leaves and grated mozzarella.
  • Cover for 1 min to melt the cheese.
  • Serve the Skillet Beef Lasagna.
